ASAS Washington, DC Wraps up Successful Second Year

Over the past year nearly 300 DC All-Stars in two middle schools participated in activities including: robotics, fashion design, anime drawing, creative writing, community service, and more. This was the second year that ASAS has provided comprehensive after-school opportunities to DC students. This year, Stuart-Hobson, ASAS’ model school in DC, received visits from local Congressional leaders as well as international guests from Brazil, South Africa, and Canada. Local leaders, community partners, and supporters, including President of the New York Life Foundation Heather Nesle, Congressman Dan Kildee of Michigan, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Congressman Daniel Webster of Florida, recently gathered at a year-end reception to talk about the importance of after-school programming and to celebrate student achievements.

This July, ASAS DC is hosting All-Star University, which will provide staff with professional development and students with leadership development, as well as high school and college readiness training.
