Dear ASAS Friends & Supporters:
As another school year comes to a close, I want to thank you for profoundly changing the lives of nearly 90,000 kids. ASAS students come from low-income schools and communities across America, often with limited resources and opportunities and no where to go after school. At ASAS, we keep kids safe, help them succeed in school, and provide them with caring adult role models. To quote one of our ASAS graduates, “it was the confidence that I gained from After-School All-Stars that led me to Yale”.
We’re proud to have partnered with the USC Schwarzenegger Institute and the Afterschool Alliance to co-host a national Afterschool Summit this past spring, bringing together leaders from local and state government, law enforcement, technology, business and philanthropy to spotlight the importance of after-school programs. Not only was the summit a trending topic on Twitter, more importantly, we were instrumental in restoring $1.2 Billion in Federal afterschool funding. As our founder Governor Schwarzenegger always says, kids don’t have lobbyists and that’s why we have to fight on their behalf.
Thanks to the New York Life Foundation, we expanded ASAS to Philadelphia and Newark and we are now launching chapters in Tampa and Cleveland this fall, bringing the All-Stars experience to thousands of additional students who previously had no access to after-school programs.
Thank you for investing in our children, and to all dads out there – Happy Father’s Day!
