All-Star Student Meets President Obama at White House

Las Vegas All-Star student Bianca met with President Obama at the White House last week to celebrate his announcement of the designation of three new national monuments, including one located in Nevada’s Basin and Range Province, an iconic part of the American landscape that contains rock art dating back 4,000 years.

Earlier this year, Bianca attended an ASAS Las Vegas Lifetime Adventures program trip to Basin and Range. The stunning landscapes she saw inspired Bianca to write a journal entry about how she thought Basin and Range should be protected for future generations, so that they too could experience Nevada’s natural beauty.

Bianca’ conservation-minded journal entry led to an invitation to the Oval Office, where she was accompanied by ASAS Las Vegas founder, Mrs. Elaine Wynn. While in Washington D.C., Bianca also met Senator Harry Reid and Representative Dina Titus and attended a reception hosted by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell.

Bianca says she hopes to someday move to Washington, D.C. to work on conservation efforts.
